The newly excavated wall of earth bores, tunnels, inclined shafts etc. is immediately coated with an early-strength coating agent simultaneously with the driving of the bore or shaft. The coating agent may or may not contain aggregates and reinforcement. Pref. coating agents are dry or wet mortar mixts. made from sand, portland cement, high-alumina cement and an accelerator, esp. plastics accelerator, or a wet mortar mixts. of colloidal cement with added high-alumina cement and organic additives, esp. protein-containing plastics, or portland cement and high-aluminous cement mixed during application, or plastics and synthetic resins. Single-component or multi- component plastics or resins, e.g. epoxy or polyurethane mixtures, are pref. Process is used for driving bores, tunnels, shafts, whether horizontal or inclined, to produce a firm stabilised wall immediately after driving.
