In the production of flux-cord wires and flux-cord wire electrodes, the strip material provided with a flux core is sealed by welding with a multiple-cathode gas tungsten-arc welding torch. By means of magnetic stabilisation of the arcs it is possible to reduce the number of the cathodes and/or achieve a higher welding rate. In this connection, in particular, the strip material has, in the regions to be welded, a welt closure which prevents excessive effects of heat on the flux core. IMAGE
