According to the invention, the accuracy of the direction-finding results, which are achieved with single-channel direction finders operating in accordance with the Watson-Watt principle, are improved by the fact that the deviation of the calibration direction-finding result from the nominal bearing angle is quantitatively determined in a repeated calibration process and used for automatic correction of the direction-finding result. For this purpose, the bearing values produced are converted into a digital form and supplied to a storage and computing unit; the corrected direction-finding result determined by the latter is then indicated. The method can also be used when the receiver is more severely detuned. The only prerequisite is that the amplitudes at the receiver output are sufficient for further processing in the memory and computing unit.
