To avoid the risk of injury to motorcyclists having a protective helmet, in particular an integral protective helmet, a safety device for a protective helmet is used, in which the weight of the protective helmet or an impact effect coming from any direction onto the protective helmet is transmitted via the safety device to the shoulder areas of the wearer or motorcyclist. To achieve the requirements necessary for this purpose, the safety device consists of a tiltable rotary device arranged between the protective helmet and the annular beaded collar. To improve the force transmission, the annular beaded collar can have a reinforcement starting from the neck region in the longitudinal direction of the spine, which reinforcement is provided at its end with a body belt running transversely thereto.
