The protection circuit contains a decoupling diode (4) between its input (E) and its output (A). A filter capacitor (2) is connected between the output (A) and an earthed connection of an operating voltage source. A first resistor (3) is connected between the output (A) and the other connection of the operating voltage source. According to the invention, a transistor (4) is provided whose emitter is connected to the output (A), whose collector is connected to the second operating voltage connection and whose base is connected via a second resistor (5) to the input (E).
