In the final conditioning of an aqueous solution containing pollutants by immobilisation in cement, an impairment of the strength and consistency of the cement body by ammonia is avoided, if sodium nitrite is added to the neutral or acidic aqueous solution for the decomposition of ammonium ions at a temperature above 60 DEG C before the immobilisation.
