In this gas after-treatment device, to be described as an alternating reactor, the exhaust gas flow of a diesel engine is directed alternately by means of a deflection flap into two filters, which are likewise regenerated intermittently and alternately, especially by means of a single vaporising or atomising burner. The burner is flow-connected by way of the cruciform pipe connecting piece and the deflection flap arranged in this in such a way that it is connected to that particular filter not being acted upon by the exhaust gas, in order to regenerate it.
