The invention relates to a right/right straight knitting machine with transfer needles having rigid spreading springs and with a cam which allows knitting and transfer in one carriage stroke and the transfer parts of which have a leading higher hump for spreading the stitches and a trailing lower hump for transferring the stitches, the transfer cam parts being assigned take-over cam parts for the two running directions of the carriage. The object of the invention is to achieve a clean stitch transfer along with a short cam construction. For this, the two humps are vertically adjustable oppositely to one another in two positions during each carriage reversal, so that the particular hump trailing during the concluded carriage stroke and leading during the next stroke is adjustable out of the lower position into the higher position and the hump leading during the concluded carriage stroke is adjustable from the higher position into the lower position.
