Axial fan impeller, especially for a cooling fan for water-cooled internal combustion engines

An axial fan impeller is described, which is used in particular for a cooling fan for water-cooled internal combustion engines of commercial vehicles and comprises a hub and fan blades attached to this. In the area of the outlet edge of the fan blades a disc is attached to the hub, the diameter of which disc is at least 30% greater that the hub diameter. This disc may be of tapered design and be part of the circumferential surface of a cone, the tip of which lies in front of the hub rear edge in the direction of flow. A further conical front ring may also be assigned to this annular disc. This design leads to a reduction in the ventilation losses. The characteristic curve thereby becomes essentially more even than conventional designs. The efficiency may also be improved.
