Heat recuperator for use as a preheater of the limestone in lime-burning rotary kilns, the installation being divided into a number of modular elements (one to ten), of which each consists of a shaft-like housing (14) in which the gas stream leaving the rotary kiln and the descending stream of solids (limestone) are divided up; regulating elements (11, 12 and 13), which can be actuated from outside, are provided for the rate of gas, and also control elements (15), which likewise can be actuated from outside during the operation of the installation, for the quantity of limestone taken out of the modules, and also preceding devices (1, 2) are provided for transporting the limestone, connected to regulating devices on subsequent receiving and distributing devices (3,7,9) which are equipped with flaps (4 and 5) and level indicators (6,8), with the possibility of shutting down a module in order to carry out repair work, without switching off the installation.
