Hydrodynamic pumping set governor - uses converted speed signal as reaction signal to operate lever and cam mechanism

The governor is for a rotary hydrodynamic liquid pumping set, whose speed it regulates. A speed signal is converted into a signal proportional to the pump output or into another signal varying more extensively with output. The square or larger root is supplied of a value "A" proportional to the square of the speed, reduced by a ratio variable between the static load of the pump and its load at zero output. The signal thus obtained is used as a reaction signal to the amount of adjustment effected by the governor. A force proportional to value "A" can act on a lever pivoting on a fixed part of the governor, the lever bearing against a cam whose profile is such that the movement produced corresponds to the square root determined.
