Pots (19 to 23) for vertical growing of plants are each of polygonal shape in plan with walls which incline inwardly towards the bottom. The bottoms of the pots, except the lowest one, are preferably pierced. The lowest pot has a reinforced bottom (30). The filled pots are stacked so that the ribs down the sides of an upper pot rest on and overlap the reinforced top of the pot below. The walls of the pots may be pierced to allow stems to grow through the holes. Watering may be at exposed upper parts of the pots or a reservoir (27) and feed pipe system may be used.
