Solar energy traps with dimpled plastic-coated heat capture plates - to enhance heat transfer by localised turbulence

The heat absorbant sheet which comprises the base of the fluid passage in a solar energy trap is embossed with a series of individual shallow bumps or depressions to induce turbulence in the passing fluid and thus enhance heat transfer efficiency. For traps involving a capture plate beneath a transparent cover and backed by a layer of insulating material. Plates with proud bumps are used for gaseous heat transfer fluids: plates with depressions for liq. fluids. Pref. the exposed surface of the sheet is coated with a protective and heat absorbant material, specifically of PTFE or 'rilsan' RTM for polymers of alpha omega polyamides.
