Airport runway obstacle indicator - uses TM mode surface wave transmitter-receiver on each runway

The airport runway indication system has a pulse transmitter. Pulses are transmitted at a frequency between 20 and 100 M Hertz. The transmitter is connected to the runway by a TM mode surface wave creation system. A receiver which collects waves reflected by obstacles on the runway is also connected to the runway. The transmitter is a radar transmitter generating 10 microsecond pulses with subsequent pulse compression of the order of 50.
