Electric inertia switch - has inertia mass whose movement from rest position releases spring loaded slide which changes circuit connections

The switch has a case including a conical seat (12) holding a spherical mass (3) by spring (4). A spring loaded slide (10) carries contacts and has a pivoting lock element (7). One end of the lock element passes through the central hole in the conical seat. Its other hook-like end interacts with a slot in the lower part of the seat, in order to hold the slide in the loaded position. When the switch is subjected to a shock, the spherical mass (3) moves from its equilibrium position against the spring (4) enabling the lock element to pivot. The hooked end is released, allowing the spring loaded slide to move changing connections in a number of circuits.
