The scanning head has a plate turning on the stand on a vertical axis and equipped with a bracket for the camera. A pivot trunnion on the bracket tilts on a horizontal axis in relation to the plate, and a component moving with the bracket has a handle inclined outwards and fitting against the folded stand. The handle can be locked in two or more different positions in relation to the component, having a screwed end expanding or contracting a split sleeve fitting round the trunnion. One arm (12) of the sleeve (10) has a cylindrical bearing surface (14) whose axis is at right angles to that of the trunnion (8). This contains a roller-shaped nut (15), whose tapped bore (16) accommodating the screwed end (17) of the handle (9) is at right angles to its pivot axis. The handle passes through the other arm (13) of the sleeve, acting against an external face on it by means of a shoulder (19, 20). Thus the handle pivots in a plane parallel to the trunnion.
