Coupling a waveguide (10) to a cavity (11) is effected by soldering one waveguide wall (12) to a cavity wall (14). An opening is pierced through those walls centrally of the waveguide and an externally screw-threaded ring (24) soldered in the opening. A plug (22) of dielectric material neutral to hyperfrequencies, such as Teflon (RTM), is sealingly secured in the ring by a collar (30) which screws onto the ring. An aerial (18) sealingly passed through a hole (26) centrally of the plug and terminates in a stub (20) in the cavity, the opposite end of the aerial being bent at right angles and secured in a side wall of the waveguide. The right-angled portion may be dispensed with. The coupling may be used for microwave ovens.
