Synergistic compsn. for treating varicose veins in the legs - contg. extracts of radix consolidae and of horse chestnut

Pharmaceutical compsn. for care of the legs comprises an extract of radix consolidae (extractum consolidae major) and an extract of horse chestnut (extractum hippocastani). The compsn. shows a synergistic effect when applied to the legs to combat the oedema and pain caused by inflammation of the veins in subjects with varicose veins. The first extract is known to increase blood effusion and to reduce inflammation and pain, and the second extract often has an effect on the size of the veins.
