The solar collector consists of three concentric spheres. The outer translucent sphere (1) is formed from two hemispheres (2,3) with the flanged joint located in the vertical plane. An intermediate sphere (4) is mounted inside the outer sphere (1) such that an air space (5) exists. The interior sphere (6), in conjunction with the intermediate sphere (4) forms two thin water jackets (7,8). Cold water is supplied to the primary hemisphere (1) through the inlet pipe (9). This hemisphere faces away from direct solar radiation and heat is collected with the aid of reflectors (14,15) situated below and behind the sphere. The pre-heated water from the primary hemisphere passes into the secondary hemisphere (8) via the interconnecting pipe (10).
