A transition device connecting a high frequency line e.g. from an oscillator to a waveguide (3) comprises a planar dielectric substrate (7) one side of which is covered with a first conductive layer (8) and the other of which carries a second conductor layer (5) e.g. rectangular or oval connected to a ribbon conductor (6) formed on the substrate and, together with the first layer, connected to the high frequency line. The first layer (8) serves as a reflector with the second layer and ribbon being surrounded by a further isolated conductive layer. The plane of the device is at right angles to the waveguide which abuts and electrically connects with the isolated conductive layer, but not the ribbon conductor, around the second layer. The first conductive layer is also electrically connected to the waveguide by conductive links.
