Mechanism for raising and lowering video disc drive motors - uses three vertical screws passing through drive motor support plate and linked by ring gear at bottom to obtain even lifting
The video disc drive motor is raised from its rest position to the playing position by an auxiliary motor and a gear train driving three screws which pass through the plate on which the video disc drive motor is mounted. The three screws are mounted perpendicular to a mounting plate, with their axes at the corners of an equilateral triangle. A gear is fixed to the lower end of each screw and a ring gear meshes with each of the screw gears. A pinion which is fixed to the auxiliary motor shaft engages one of the screw gears which, when rotated, drives the ring gear and hence the other two screw gears. The three screws are rotated at the same speed to give even raising or lowering of the plate supporting the disc drive motor.
