Two diesel engines are coupled through a gearbox to the propeller shaft. At low power requirements only one engine is in operation and at higher loads both operate. One engine (40) drives a centrifugal governor (41) which moves a spindle (42) against a spring (43). The spring tension is preset by a control lever (44). The spindle (42) operates the control rod (47) of the fuel injection pump (49) through a spring link (46). At low loads the control lever is not in contact with the spring link. At high loads it acts on the spring link as well as on the governor spring.
