Polyamide and polyesteramide polyphase compsns. - having improved impact strength, ductility and crystallisation

Polyphase compsns. comprise 50-99 (wt.)% polyamide (I) and 1-50% of one or more polymers comprising wholly or partly of a polyester-amide (II) which is incompatible with (I). Pref. compsns. comprise a matrix of (I) of mol.wt. at least 5000 pref. higher than 10,000, in amt. of 55-99, pref. 70-90%, and dispersed in the matrix, particles of (II) of dia. 0.01-10, pref. 0.05-1 microns, Tg less than 5, pref. less than -30 deg.C, and in amt. of 1-45, pref. 10-30%. The amide gp. content of (II) is less than 40% of that of (I). The compsn. has improved impact strength, ductility, and crystallisation associated with a very good heat stability. It can be used for moulding, extrusion, prodn. of tubes, films, sheets, yarns, coating metal wires etc. Applications include mechanical, aircraft, automobile, electronic and tooling industries.
