Hone for re-boring cylinder of low powered IC engine - uses ram operated gear racks with common pinion to advance vertical spindle-mounted table

The hone is used to rebore cylinders for relatively low-powered vehicles using a vertical boring tool at a comfortable height for manual control. It has a table top (2) to which the work-piece is fixed, and an oleopneumatic jack (V) effects the vertical displacement of the tool. The height of the fully extended jack does not exceed that of the table (2), and jack (V) movement may be transmitted to the tool-spindle (8) by two vertical racks (3,4) meshing with a common pinion (6). The racks (3,4) may be mounted on the external and internal faces respectively of a table leg (1), and the tool-holder (11) may use an oblique opening to locate a screw (13)-adjustable tool (12).
