Prodn. of flat pieces from roll of metal strip - uses line punching stamping and cutting posts to make holes, cut=outs and stampings

The process uses punching, stamping and cutting to produce flat pieces from a roll of metal strip, being utilised in the mfr. of false ceiling hangers (2) etc. The punching, stamping and cutting stations locate at fixed intervals, using different tools to obtain juxtaposed holes, notches (12) and stampings (8). The strip is fed to the tools step by step, the feed being controlled by contact with a stop face formed by a cutting made at one or other of the posts. The posts may be incorporated in one press, and holes may be made at the first post together with the profiling (20) of a side by a strip edge. The opposite side may be fashioned at the next post to form the stop face (12) which initiates the press cycle. A window (7) may also be cut out at the second post with the cutting of the trailing and leading edges effected at the last two posts.
