The sprung supporting legs of the drum of a washing machine are attached to the machine frame via tensioned feet having a convex surface which permits rocking of the legs. The radius of curvature of the feet is greater in a plane parallel to the axis of the drum than in the plane perpendicular to the axis, providing a greater restoring force parallel to the drum axis, which minimises the pitching of the drum when being accelerated through the resonant frequencies during spin-drying.
