Laminated rotor or stator mfr. for vehicle alternator - uses single lamination shape with inverted L=shaped teeth which, when alternately stacked, form near closed slot
The rotor or stator is formed from a lamination stack using a single stamping. Each lamination (11) has the teeth (3) cut in the form of an inverted 'L', such that when laminations are stacked with alternate laminations facing opposite directions, a near closed (35) slot (32) is formed to provide secure location of the rotor or stator conductors. By slightly skewing one lamination relative to its neighbour a skewed slot is built up across the surface of the rotor or stator. Each tooth element is formed by a base section (3a) which is transversal w.r.t the strip and a section (3b) perpendicular to the base (3a) and at its free end. The teeth are interconnected along their longitudinal border of the continuous strip from which they are formed.
