Positioning device for locating pins in printed circuit card drilling - has optical reader coinciding centring holes with markers defining pattern to be marked out
The reference card is mounted on a fixed table. A motor driven optical reader scans the surface for reference marks which define the position of locating pins used to fix the printed circuit cards to be drilled. The lateral displacements in the coordinate directions are converted to electrical signals which are then amplified and fed to the motor drives which displace a moving table. The co-ordinates of the locating-pin positions are defined by crosses on the reference card. A coded character commanding the optical reader to stop is positioned next to each cross. The drilling tool and work surface are kept free of dust and swarf by air-blower fans. The path traced out by the drill-head is an exact copy of the optical reader route over the reference card.
