Sew-knitted warp fabrics - have pile incorporated into preformed base layer

Warp-knitted pile fabrics are sew-knitted with a pile in the form of a non-woven material such as card sliver, bound by hooked needles to a pre-formed base layer. The base layer comprises columns of stitches formed from loops of fibres drawn from the same non-woven material by the hooked needles. The stitches are formed on the underside of the layer, and the fibre tufts are arranged to stand proud on the front side. The pile is incorporated into the base layer in the form of open pile with the fibres standing proud. This avoids the pilling of fibres, and eliminates a subsequent brushing process to remove the fibre pills. The pile fabric is prepd. for use in clothing, soft toys and ground coverings.
