The invention relates to devices for assisting the vital functions. It relates to a device controlled by a microprocessor which consumes a very small amount of energy because it is most of the time in sleep. IS AWAKENED ON SOME EVENTS. THE AMOUNT OF ENERGY CONSUMPTION IS REDUCED BY MAXIMUM USE OF A PASSIVE MEMORY, THE DIRECT ACCESS MEMORY HAVING ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF INSTRUCTIONS WHICH MAY BE MODIFIED FROM OUTSIDE AND THUS ALLOW REPROGRAMMATION. / P P APPLICATION TO CARDIAC STIMULATORS.
