The electric fence tester uses the fence high voltage to generate a spark over a spark gap and give visual and audible indication that the fence is alive. The unit is housed in an insulated enclosure and the electrode used to contact the fence has cut-outs in its end to facilitate bending and twisting operations on the fence. An earth spike provides the second potential and ensures the safety of the operator during live working. An adjusting screw is provided to position the earth electrode relative to the live electrode, allowing the unit to be adjusted to suit various fence voltages.
