The heat exchanger is made from a block of heat conducting material. In this are bored parallel axis channels. The liquid to be heated flows in some channels and that to be cooled flows in others. Heat transfer occurs across the block of material. The channels can have any form of toothed or grooved surface to increase the total surface area in contact with the liquids. The block can be subjected to drawing processes to form the channels or they may be formed by piercing.
