Cartesian axis mechanism for curve tracer - comprises six pivoting linkages and two sliding joints forming parallelogram connected to two actuating rods
Cartesian axis mechanism for curve tracer - comprises six pivoting linkages and two sliding joints forming parallelogram connected to two actuating rods
Two operating shafts (AX,AY) provide a cartesian movement for a point (P), parallel to two fixed axes (OX,OY). The shafts are attached to sliding joints (K,L) which are mounted on flat polished plates (1-4) by pivot points, while further pivots couple the plates together. The sliding joints form part of jack assemblies which move the shafts. Two of the plates (1,3) are mounted parallel to each other and the other two plates (2,4) slide between them to provide the required movement for the point. The angle subtended by the two cartesian axes depends upon four angular parameters for the system, all of which can be varied to suit the application.
