The vine stake (1) has a closed hollow section and eyelets (6) for the location of parallel metal wires at vertical intervals, being made of galvanised sheet steel. It comprises a rounded hollow section which is retained (4) by a fold, its sectional profile comprising regularly undulating lengths running into diametrically half round outstands (3), incorporating the eyelets. C-shaped openings (6) connected by transverse punch holes (7) form the eyelets. A leg (12) of the C may be longer than its counterpart, and the closure fold may lie on an axis of symmetry (9) normal to that (8) bisecting the outstands. The refold may comprise a simple crimping of externally returned edges of the constituent sheet metal, the returns incorporating transverse serrations or longitudinal undulations.
