Slot insulation for rotating electric machine - uses insulation mfd. as strip with cut=outs for slot tips, and fits strip over slot tips in U=shape

The insulation is formed of an insulating piece (4) which lines the sides and base of the slot. The extremities (5) of the profile of the insulating strip line the walls of the slot, and the ends of the profile (5a) are bent round the ends of the core to retain the insulation and to protect the winding where it emerges from the core. The two extremities (5) of the insulating profile are linked by fasteners (6,7) parallel to the axis of the rotating electric machine, with open space (8) between the fastening strips (7). The slot insulating strip is fabricated by separation from a continuous strip (9) having two longitudinal sides coupled by transverse strips, and the strip is cut to a pre-determined length by cutting across the transverse links. The strip is then fitted round the winding core and each slot insulator strip folded to a 'U' shape along its longitudinal axis.
