Seed-drill tractor attachment - uses return sprung slidable gauge and tamping wheels capable of deflection upon impact with obstacle

The seed-drill is attached to a tractor by a pin-jointed parallelogram linkage e.g using a frame to mount a distributor together with a plough and height adjustable gauge wheels (5) setting the planting depth. The mountings of both the gauge wheels and the tamping wheels are modified to obviate damage by large rocks, etc. giving a wheel or wheels the freedom to slide away from a close centre rest position against the action of a spring. The wheel is permitted to slide along its axle (10) against a coil spring (13) sited between the hub (12) and a stop washer (14) with a thrust-bearing (15). The tamping wheels are mounted in a similar manner with their inclined axles forming a member of a shallow inverted V-shape.
