Lift and propulsion drive of ACV - has axial fan in annular duct with flow splitter for air cushion and thrust nozzle

The lift and propulsion drive of an air-cushion vehicle comprises an axial fan (2) installed in the entrance portion of an annular duct (1) divided by a cylindrical splitter (8) into external and internal annular passages (9,10). The external passage is communicated through a diffuser (5) and a box (6) with an air cushion (A). The internal passage (10) is communicated with a thrust nozzle (11) having reverse-steering pivoted rudders (13) and reversing blades (2). The fan has two rows of blades (17,18). Each first row blade is of fixed incidence and has at its peripheral portion (19), a cambered section before the entrance into the external passage. Its radially inner portion (21) has a symmetrical flat profile before the entrance into the internal passage. The second row blades are of variable incidence and, installed before the entrance into the internal passage. Straightening blades (25,26) are provided.
