Carbon-mon:oxide in air concentration monitor - provides visual and audible alarm signals if mon:oxide in proportion of building exceeds critical level
If the proportion of Carbon Monoxide in the atmosphere of a building exceeds 50 parts per million, this detector gives visual and audible warnings. The air is drawn through the body of the detector (1) by a fan (2) mounted on the detector exhaust (8). The air enters the lower chamber (5) which has a water trap (16) which allows condensed water to drain away. The air enters the upper chamber through a small restriction hole (7) in the separating wall (6). This restriction causes a pressure difference of 12mm water gauge which is monitored (3) to ensure that the air-flow is continuous. The air is then filtered (13) and a small proportion flows through the detector assembly (11). The actual detector is a hot wire bridge type which feeds a metering circuit which displays the CO proportion in steps of 15ppm and operates the alarm system if it exceeds 50ppm.
