The ladder has several sliding sections (2) with hoops (4) articulated to the risers, and has, at its top end, two pivoting and retractible bars that can be locked in position. The articulation of the hoops on the ladder sections uses a connecting rod (10) that turns on an axis integral to the ladder riser. The connecting rod has a cylindrical stud (11) placed on the inside of the ladder which ensures that the hoop is locked in the working position and the hoops can be joined by rails to provide continuous user protection.
