Machine grinding inside and outside of piston ring - uses one grinding post with inner grinder and outer roller and other post with outer grinder and inner roller

The machine grinds both the interior and the exterior of hollow cylindrical pieces, e.g. for removing burrs from piston rings. It uses two grinding posts (3,4), the first being equipped with an interior grinder and an external support roller (24a) whilst the second has an exterior grinder (24) with an internal support roller. The two posts are mounted side by side between loading (2) and unloading posts (5), three transfer rods (16,17,18) on a transverse slide (12) being used to move packs of rings (8) down the line from a pivotable loading cradle (7). The rods are parallel to the grinder axes, the first moving rings from the cradle to the interior grinder, whilst the second operates between grinders. The third rod operates between the exterior grinder and the unloading post.
