Tower evaporator with internal rotary brushes - to suppress scale deposition on heat transfer surfaces

An evaporation tower for treating liquids which tend to deposit scale is provided with rotary brushes (21) which continuously scour the vessel walls (5) internally for the entire mutual interface depth between the contained residual liquid and the external heating jacket (7) surround the vessel. The tower is esp. for treating industrially polluted waters, to recover condensates (12) or vapours (13), e.g. for dewatering petroleum fractions. The system suppresses superficial scale build-up and associated loss of heat transfer efficiency through the vessel walls.
