Hip joint prosthesis implanted without cement or circlips - anchors acetabulum and mating femur head with bone-penetrating spikes

A hip joint prosthesis of the type comprising an artificial acetabulum with mating artificial femur head bored to sleeve on to a prepared shank of femur is described. The acetabulum is sunk into the hip bone cavity and secured into the bone with spikes parallel to the axis of the socket cup. The base of the bore in the femur head is equipped with spikes which penetrate and engage the end of the prepared shank. These spikes are all parallel to the axis of the femur head. Secure fixing is achieved without cement, circlips etc.
