The appts. consists of a capillary tube (a), each end of which is located in a bath of electrolyte. At the middle of tube (a) is a cell which receives a sample to be analysed. Each end of the cell is closed by a semipermeable membrane leading to one end of tube (a). Along each zone of tube (a) leading from the cell to the electrolyte baths, and starting from each membrane, is an electromagnet coil; electrodes for determn. of capacitance changes; a cell permeable to IR; a cell permeable to UV; an emission cell which can be exposed to a laser beam; and finally the electrolyte bath. Used in qualitative and quantitative determn. of substances in soln. or suspension in liq. or gas, by using the effects of an electric field; a magnetic field; dielectric behaviour; IR or UV absorption spectra; or from the spectra emitted by exposure of a substance to a laser beam.
