摘要

A grey cast-iron alloy or mottled cast-iron alloy contains 0.01 to 0.03 wt.% boron. The boron increases the resistance to abrasion of the cast iron and makes it suitable in particular for the manufacture of cylinder liners for internal combustion engines or compressors. The boron is added in the form of borax which is fed to the casting ladle enclosed in a mild-steel container.
