An industrial plant installation for applying vacuum pressure to a gas of which part is condensable and composed of two liq. phases. One of the liq. phases is water and the other is made up to organic components. The installation is of the type employing at least one Root's blower in series with a liq. ring vacuum pump. Downstream of the liq. ring pump is a first gas/liq. separator which delivers the condensable fraction to a second separator to obtain two liq. phases. Water supplied to the liq. ring pump is precooled in a refrigeration unit. The gas exhausted from the first separator is pref. air. The above vacuum system is pref. associated with an installation for deodorising vegetable oils etc. Used for equivalent capacity in gas treatment, the new installation which successfully employs rotary vacuum machines in place of steam ejectors offers substantial economy in energy usage. The installation is for applying a vacuum pressure to a gas, partic. a gas evolved in deodorising vegetable oils.
