Machine for unrolling spiral wound hay bale - uses converging rollers to hold bale with free end outer whorl between traction drum and conveyor

The machine unrolls a spiral wound roll (9) of fibrous material such as hay, using converging idling rollers (11, 12) mounted on jack actuated swing arms (13, 22) to locate the roll on a conveyor (3). The leading end (10a) of the hay ribbon (10) is pressed onto the conveyor by a revolving traction drum (31), the drum and the belt combining to feed the unrolled ribbon outwards. Shears (26) are used to cut fibres tending to hold the external hay whorl to its neighbour. The shears may be mounted on the swing arm (22) supporting the forward roller, being specifically sited on the arms and being controlled by a further jack.
