An annular cradle for supporting the foot or leg of an immobile patient comprises a rigid casing with surfaces covered with an impermeable flexible matl. to provide one or more enclosures containing a liquid. To provide support without excessive local pressure which can result in physiological sores or potentially damaging persistent torsional stresses on limb or hip joints. Pref. the covers are of polyamide and are divided into a series of interconnected minor pockets by internal continuous or multiple point welds. The liquid may be of water, occupying about 70% of the available capacity, opt. warmed by an electrical heater. Minor movements of the supported limb produce a gentle massage effect from shifting of the liquid within the lining in contact with the foot etc.
