Bobbin carriage for Leavers lace machine - having permanently-mounted bobbin in circular housing with circumferential groove

A bobbin carriage for a leavers lace machine has a circular bobbin housing with a circumferential groove, pref. of V-section, whereby the bobbin is held irremovable within the carriage. The groove is coated with a low-friction material, pref. PTFE, to facilitate rotation of the bobbin. Two pig-tail springs, separated by an arc of just over 100 deg. bear on the rim of the bobbin to tension the yarn and prevent oscillation of the bobbin. The carriage has a radial hole through which a yarn is wound onto the bobbin. The end is passed through a corresponding hole in the hub of the bobbin, where it is secured by an expanding wwinding-spindle. This construction provides better control of the bobbin within the carriage. It obviates the need to remove the bobbins for rewinding, provides better control during reqinding, and reduces the labour content.
