The installation may use bins (54) suspended between two endless vertical magazine chains (11) to store components for an assembly post (8), using a pair of parallel service chains (2) with transfer gear (6) to connect the magazine to the post. A column (1a) incorporates the post under the magazine (9) and the service chains may support the bins using prongs lodging under sleeved and notched stub axles. The magazine chains may use return sprung pivoting L shaped arms (12) actuated by bin weight to take successive bins off the service chains. The transfer gear then replaces each bin on the service chains whilst maintaining the bin sequence.
