The selvedge tank (1) is mounted on wheels (3) and has a draw-bar (4). It is equipped to empty farmyard cess pits, and can be towed by a tractor. It comprises a suction pump (6) driven by a hydraulic motor (9) which is supplied from the tractor's hydraulic system by flexible pipes (10,11). It avoids the use of exposed shafts driven from the p.t.o. and thus reduces the likelihood of accidents involving operatives. A base (12) fixed to the bar may be used to mount the pump to which the motor may be rigidly connected.
